Claire's Room - The Spirit of a Free Woman
This room pays tribute to Claire (1929-1988), my maternal grandmother. Cheerful and free-spirited, ahead of her time and truly modern, she chose her own path, moving to Saint-Germain-la-Rivière, to the place known as La Dorette.
In her charming home, she nurtured a deep love for gardening and flowers, with a special fondness for nasturtiums. Resourceful and a true queen of DIY, Claire embodied independence and boundless energy.
A nursing assistant at the hospital, she radiated kindness and generosity. She left us tragically in July 1988, electrocuted in the very garden she cherished so much.
The Claire Room reflects her world: soft, luminous tones, floral patterns reminiscent of her colourful beds, and details that evoke her independence and creativity. A place that celebrates the memory of a free, inspiring, and deeply loving woman.
