Chambre 2

This room pays tribute to René (1922-1998), my maternal grandfather, born and raised in Montcaret, a small village in the Dordogne. A passionate winemaker and bon vivant, he devoted his life to the vineyard and the simple pleasures of the land. In his wine cellar, he crafted his own wines – symbols of conviviality and craftsmanship – often accompanied by fragrant cèpes or fresh oysters from Arcachon Bay, where he loved to recharge with his family.

The walls here are adorned with a life-sized label from one of his bottles. The building depicted on this label is the family home where he was born and raised, inviting guests to immerse themselves in his world. The bathroom, meanwhile, reflects the light and colours of Arcachon Bay, a cherished holiday destination close to his heart.

Married to Claire, René passed on his love for the land and for wine to his children, Brigitte and Bernard – the latter now carrying on the family estate. Deeply attached to his roots and his Protestant faith, he leaves behind the image of a generous, welcoming man who loved life.
